Concordia Varsity Basketball Teams Advance to Jr. NBA
The past month in sports has been a heart-pounding showdown. Both our Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball squads locked in spots for the Jr. NBA Shanghai 2024-2025! Congrats to our unstoppable athletes for this accomplishment!
Jr. NBA
Jr. NBA is a global youth basketball programme. As a member school, Concordia offers our varsity teams the opportunity to compete with the best high school basketball teams from schools across Shanghai.
The boys’ team have battled through sickness, injuries, and pure exhaustion, and each player rose to the occasion, pulling together to secure their place in the Jr. NBA.
“We couldn’t be prouder of the heart and tenacity everyone displayed on the court. More than just qualifying, we’re all very excited to participate in the Jr. NBA and bring our passion and hard work to the next level.”
The girls’ team hit their mark, qualifying for the Jr. NBA with a thrilling victory. They dedicated themselves to extra basketball training and pre-season strength and conditioning sessions, and every player made significant improvements.
Their hard work culminated in a nail-biting 45-42 win against a tough opponent. It was a closely contested game, and, in the end, our players’ determination paid off.
Key highlights included Elli’s impressive 18 points, with Jolene and Sherry each contributing 10 points. Mary also played a crucial role by hitting clutch free throws that secured the lead with under a minute left.

Our Season 1 athletes crushed it at APAC at the end of October! Here’s the rundown:
- Girls Varsity Volleyball snagged 4th at Super APAC held in Shanghai
- Varsity Boys Volleyball battled to the quarterfinals in Seoul
- APAC Cross Country sprinted to 3rd, with the girls team racking up 100 points in Hong Kong
- Varsity Boys Tennis returned from Beijing with the the APAC Sportsmanship Trophy for the 2nd year running!
