Service Initiative of the Month: Global Issues Network (GIN) Subgroups
This February, we’re spotlighting the Global Issues Network, where student-led subgroups work to create meaningful change locally and globally. Each group focuses on a specific cause, building awareness and leading initiatives that inspire action.
Meet the GIN Subgroups
Lily Project – Supports underprivileged women and children through fundraising, advocacy, and empowerment, advancing UN SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
Shanghai Styles – Promotes sustainable fashion by encouraging secondhand shopping, clothing donations, and alternatives to fast fashion.
Ecolve/Bye Bye Plastic Bags – Promotes sustainable lifestyles and responsible consumption through events, awareness campaigns, and eco-friendly product recommendations. They also work to reduce single-use plastics through creative reuse projects and advocacy for environmental protection.
Food Sustainability – Addresses food waste at Concordia, reducing waste by an average of 80 kg annually.
Sustainable Success – Encourages personal well-being and balance, challenging high-performance culture with meaningful conversations on long-term success.
Amity – Raises awareness about human rights violations through campaigns, events, and education on issues such as human trafficking and equality.
