Concordia Swimmers Make a Big Splash at 2025 SSL Championships
The Concordia International School Shanghai Swim Team capped off an outstanding season with a strong showing at the 2025 Shanghai Swim League (SSL) Championships, held April 19–20 at SAS Pudong. Against tough competition, the team secured an impressive 7th place finish out of a total of 24 international schools across Shanghai, an incredible achievement for a school without an on-campus pool. Adding to the success, the Boys 11-12 team earned 3rd place in the Team Points Award, highlighting the strength and depth of Concordia’s young swimmers.
At the SSL Championships, the team faced additional challenges, including the absence of several key swimmers in important age groups. Despite this, the collective energy, resilience, and determination of the team never wavered, resulting in a performance the entire community can be proud of.
"Every point we earned was incredibly precious," said Dr. Tarsi Bali, Aquatics Coordinator. "Hearing our students chant the 'Concordia chant' before the Championships, and at every meet, filled me with pride and joy."
The success at SSL Championships was not just about medals and rankings; it was about the perseverance, heart, and growth shown by every swimmer who competed. Although the team’s final standing might have climbed even higher with a full roster, their achievements spoke volumes about the strength of the program and the spirit of the swimmers.
Reflecting on the season’s journey, Dr. Bali shared: "This team is truly extraordinary. I am honored to be part of this incredible journey, and I look forward to even greater achievements in the seasons ahead."
The Concordia Swim Team’s accomplishment is a testament to what can be achieved through dedication, strong coaching, and a united team spirit. Congratulations to all the swimmers, coaches, and families who made this season such a success. The future looks bright for Concordia Aquatics.

JPAC Soccer
What an incredible journey our JV Soccer teams at the JPAC Tournament last week at WAB! Our players gave everything they had — showing relentless effort, teamwork, and flashes of brilliant soccer throughout the competition.
Their determination paid off with the girls clinching first place while going unbeaten the whole tournament, and the boys finishing in third place.
We couldn’t be prouder of their growth, resilience, and spirit. The future is bright for this group!

CISSA Track & Field at Wuxi
On Friday, April 18th, 30 student-athletes from the 6th and 7th grades at Concordia International School Shanghai traveled to Wuxi for the CISSA middle school track meet. Although many were new to the sport and had only practiced twice, they competed with determination and proudly represented the school against teams from across the region, marking a strong start to the season.
One week later, on April 25th, Concordia hosted Phoenix Friday and took on cross-town rival Shanghai American School Pudong. With a few more practices under their belts, the athletes demonstrated noticeable growth in their throws, jumps, and speed, with many setting personal bests along the way.
Special thanks to Coach Chris Mizel, Coach Danielle Mizel, Coach John Thompson, Coach Jennifer Thompson, Coach Billy Gray, and all of the athletes for their hard work and dedication to continuous improvement throughout the season.
