Hearts, Hustle, & Happy Families
Happy Mother's Day
This weekend, many around the world will be celebrating Mother's Day, and we want to take a moment to honor that in a way that holds space for every one of our families. We know that love and care come in many shapes, from mothers and grandmothers to fathers, guardians, aunties, and all the special people who show up for our children every single day. To every person who nurtures, encourages, and loves a child in this community, this day is for you too. We hope each family finds a moment this weekend to celebrate the love that surrounds them, in whatever form that takes.

EC Field Day is Coming
Next Friday is going to be our EC Field Day and we want our families right in the middle of the action! Field Day is a hands-on celebration of movement, teamwork, and school spirit, and parents are warmly encouraged to get involved and join in the fun alongside their children. Please come dressed in comfortable clothing you can move in, and make sure to bring your sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle to keep everyone cool and ready for a full day outdoors. During the snack break in the day, parents will also have the opportunity to visit our PS/PK Reggio Exhibition, a beautiful window into the deep learning happening in our youngest classrooms. We cannot wait to share this special day with you!
Parent Tip of the Week
This month we focus on self-control: a skill that is not expected but gently taught over time. Training a child isn’t about control; it’s about consistency, example, and quiet repetition. The small, everyday moments matter most: washing dishes, putting things in place, finishing what they start. In these moments, children aren’t just completing tasks; they are building habits that shape their character.
Using the Positive Discipline tool Take Time for Training, we slow down and teach step-by-step instead of assuming children already know what to do. Research shows that habits take many repetitions over time to become automatic. Guidance works best when it is steady and patient.
Children watch more than they listen, so what we model becomes what they carry. When we take time to teach with care and intention, self-control begins to grow from the inside out. Over time, what starts as practice becomes habit—and eventually, part of who they are.
